Obituary of Lewis Stanley Hopfer
Lewis Stanley Hopfer, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 16, 2024 after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 80.
He was born on February 2, 1944 and was the son of the late Melvin and Mary Demmon Hopfer.
Lewis attended the Lake-Lehman School District. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. Lew loved to hunt, even rattlesnakes. He especially loved to take quad rides to the South Mountain cabin with his family and friends to pick blueberries so he could make his pies. Lew was a man that would do anything for anyone.
He was active in teaching hunters’ safety courses and participants with Pheasants Forever and loved the involvement with kids. Lew was a lifetime member of the NRA and the Habitat for Humanity of Wyoming County. He was also a member of the Noxen Rod and Gun Club of South Mountain and the Harveys Lake Rod and Gun Club where he was the secretary for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, David and Gary Hopfer.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 60 years, Georgeann Hayner Hopfer; daughters, Michele Ronca (John) of Hunlock Creek and Melissa Calvert of Florida; granddaughters, Emle and Sayde; great-granddaughters, Victoria and Marceline; brother, Ronald Hopfer of Noxen; sister, Clara Lyons of Noxen; brother-in-law, Jack Hayner of Beaumont; several nieces, nephews, and his beloved lap cat, Barley.
At Lew’s request, there will be no funeral services or calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
