Merrill Austin Rogers, age 91 of Tunkhannock, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024. She was born in Bismarck, ND on January 21, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Cecil and Lois Clapp. Merrill worked as a seamstress in several textile factories in the Sweet Valley and Noxen areas. She was a member of Community Bible Church, Sweet Valley, and most recently, at Victory Baptist, Lehman. Merrill enjoyed reading, gardening, and planting flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Duane; first husband, Kenneth Austin; and siblings, Carleton Clapp, Joan Clapp, and Anita Mundell. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, George; children, Ken Austin of New York, Gary Austin of Sweet Valley, Randy Austin (Kathy) of Susquehanna County, Darren Austin (Vonda) of Pittsburgh, Keith Austin (Linda) of Sweet Valley, and Karen Rossmell (John) of Kingston; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Vic Clayson, Maureen Dawson, and Mickey Clapp. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 at 1:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. L. D. Reed, Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, Harveys Lake, officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM before the service at the funeral home on Friday.
