Obituary of Lester Harry Hoover

Lester H. Hoover, age 88 of Idetown, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Hospice Community Care, Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Hoover was born in Idetown on November 27, 1924 and was the son of the late Elmer and Mable Ide Hoover.
Lester graduated from Lehman High School in 1942. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII under General Patton as a T-5 in the 301st Signal Operation Battalion, 3rd Army E.T.O, he was employed by Linear Corp., Dallas, Blue Ribbon Bakery, Kingston, and retired from Offset Paperback, Dallas. He also worked as a certified electrician in the Wilkes-Barre area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Floyd Hoover.
Mr. Hoover is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Virginia Wolfe; daughters, Cheryl Summa and her husband David of Lehman, and Joann Hoover of Chugiak, AK and son, Curtis J. Hoover of Reading; sister, Roxie Haines and her husband Pastor David of Quakertown; grandchildren, Samantha Fisher of Wasilla, AK, Kristin and Scott Summa; great-granddaughter, Lillian Fisher.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek with Rev. Robert M. Ryder of the Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church and Rev. James Pall of the Huntsville United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the service on Tuesday.
Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Hospice Community Care, 25 Church St. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18765 or the Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church, PO Box 1, Lehman, PA 18627.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hospice Community Care and the Visiting Nurses Association for the exceptional care that was provided for Lester.
