Obituary of Lillian Sayre
Lillian Sayre, age 101, is now in the arms of Our Lord on November 1, 2023 in Clinton, SC.
She was born on February 4, 1922 and was the daughter of the late John and Mary Odell Zaginaylo.
Lillian was raised in both Scranton and Berwick but lived most of her life at Lake Silkworth. She attended school in Scranton and was a member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, Hunlock Creek and Emma Gray United Methodist Church, Woodruff, SC. Lillian was a seamstress for many years in Nanticoke and Berwick working in sewing factories and during the second World War she welded Army tanks. She enjoyed going to the Casinos in Atlantic City, bowling, church activities, and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1st husband, Elmer Kayson; 2nd husband, William Sayre, Sr.; sisters, Stella Krush, Rose Pohousky, Nadia Mele, Mary Lingle, Ruth Miller and Florence Zaginaylo; brother, John Zaginaylo.
Lillian is survived by daughter, Carol White of Enoree, SC; son, Craig Sayre of Dallas; step-daughter, Beverly Tirpack of Larksville; sister, Olga Schweitzer of Highspire; 26 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren and 7 great-great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00 am from the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 5876 Main Rd., Hunlock Creek, PA 18621 with Pastor Richard Blaine, officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday at the church.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Twp.
