Donald "Punky" E. Covert, age 77 of Dallas, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Allied Services Center City, Wilkes Barre.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre on January 1, 1946 and was the son of the late Kenneth and Mildred Covert.

Donald graduated from Lake-Lehman High School and was employed as a carpenter for many years until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed playing darts and pool, and spending time with his family and friends. Donald was well known for making people laugh and his dancing. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth "Beaver" Covert, Jr. and David "Duck" Covert; step-grandson, Cody Wolfe.

Donald is survived by daughters, Tina Coole and her husband Kris of Noxen and Missy Winters and her husband Jack of Noxen; wife, Emma Hanna of Dallas; sister, Janet Carey of Noxen; brothers, Larry Covert, Sr. and his wife Helen of Shavertown and James Covert and his wife Kathleen of Loyalville; step-children, David Wolfe, Jr., Dodie Rosencrans and Joy Lynn Christian; grandchildren, Katlyn, Kelsey, Karli, Kaci, Jake, Justin and Joshua; step-grandchildren, David III, Christian, Austin, Mikayla, Araya, Darryll, Tyler and Ashlynn; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Ben Hubbell of the Noxen Bible Baptist Church, officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Loyalville.
