Obituary of Phillip Thomas James Sr.
Phillip T. James, Sr., age 70 of Noxen, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Mountain Top on March 12, 1953 and was the son of the late Jackson and Martha Rishkofski James.
Phillip graduated from Westside Vocational Technical School in 1971, where he excelled at football and was named to the Unico team in 1971. He served in the US Army Reserves at Fort Jackson and retired as a chef from the former Pickett's Charge, Dallas. Phillip was an avid New York Jets fan and outdoorsman especially hunting and fishing. He was a loving father, spouse, brother and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Phillip T. James, Jr. and brother, Patrick James.
Phillip is survived by children, Jennifer Phillips and her husband John of Lubbock, TX, Tommy Patton, Robin Weber, Michelle Slempa and George Deiter, all of Noxen; companion of 34 years, Leota Patton of Noxen; grandchildren, Laura Ann James, Nathan Patton and Erica Butler; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Zebidiah; brothers, Peter James, Sr. and his wife Ann and Paul James and his wife Susan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, July 31, 2023 at 8:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
