George E. Pavlick Obituary

George Pavlick, of Pavlick Road, Hunlock Creek, passed away peacefully Friday, July 14 at his home surrounded by his wife of 65 years, his children and grandchildren following an unrelenting battle with mesothelioma.

George was born on Pavlick Hill, one of seven children of George and Catherine Pavlick. Early in life, George joined the Army and shortly after met and married Marie Coassolo. George and Marie made a home and generations of family and lasting friendships spanning 86 years on Pavlick Hill, serving as the centerpiece for informal daily, weekend and holiday gatherings. George built a storied career in construction with the R. R. Heddon Construction Company and was a lifetime member of Carpenters Local Union 445 and member of the Laborers Local 158. When the workday ended, he picked up a second shift on his farm spending remaining daylight hours tending to horses and other animals at Hilltop Stables, baling hay, painting all things "barn" red, organizing tools and equipment, and meticulously manicuring the lawn. George enjoyed hunting seasons at the cabin he built, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, restoring lawn mowers and tractors, and spending time outdoors.

During retirement, George and Marie migrated to South Carolina and spent their time at Lake Marion fishing, alligator watching and spending time with family. Throughout his life, George served in various leadership roles within the community – serving as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 913 for five years, and was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Lake Silkworth, where he spent his time attending mass, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and organizing summer festivals.

George is survived by his greatest accomplishment, his family – his loyal and loving wife Marie; his son, Ronald G. Pavlick; two daughters, Pamela Phillips (Eric Lichtenstein) and Georgette Pavlick-Vivian (Charles Vivian); six grandchildren (Ronald G. Pavlick, Jr. and Veronica Smith; Talcott I. Phillips, Arielle (Phillips) Chortanoff and Yardley Phillips; and Lydia Vivian) and a great granddaughter (Georgia Chortanoff). Surviving also is George's sister, Marie Brojakowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
