Jestie "Jet" Cook, age 92 of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. She was born in Kingston on May 27, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Draper and Ruth Schoonover. Jet graduated from Tunkhannock High School, class of 1949. She was a waitress at several restaurants in the Back Mountain area and was the head custodian for the Lake-Lehman School District. Jet was a member of the former Lehman Ladies Fireman Auxillary and the Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and working in the garden. Jet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Cook; siblings, Bill, Lauren, Helen, Alice, Matt, Charlie and Barbara. Jestie is survived by children: Kenneth Cook and his wife, Charlene, Kathy McDade and her husband, Gary, James Cook and his wife, Jodi, Deborah Prebola, Karen Altavilla and her husband Michael and Sharon Barto; sister, Emma Schoonover; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 12:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Chris Sutton, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Online condolences may be made to clswansonfuneralhome.com
