Marion E. Stroud Obituary

Marion E. Stroud, age 91 of Sweet Valley, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by her friends and family as she usually was throughout her life.





Mrs. Stroud was born April 14, 1921 in Dallas, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Hadsall Elston.





She graduated from the former Lehman High School in 1940 and had been employed as a florist for Hillside Farms in Trucksville for many years.





Mrs. Stroud was a faithful member of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ and was a past Worth Matron of the Shick-Shawnee Order of the Eastern Star.





Her husband, Richard N. Stroud died in 2001. She is also preceded in death by sisters: Jean Evans, Phyllis Jones and Ruth Howell.





Marion was a loving mother to her children: Carol Holbert of Allentown; Dick Stroud and his wife, Betty, of Sweet Valley; Don Stroud and his wife, Fay, of Sweet Valley; Kathleen Anderson of Dallas; Allan Stroud and his wife, Connie, of Dallas and Janet Tuzinski of Harrisburg. She was also a beloved grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.





Marion's funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek with Joel Stauffer, Senior Minister of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ and Willy Tryon, Associate Minister of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ officiating.





Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek.





Friends may call 6:00 - 9:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19 at the funeral home.
