Mildred Claire Smith, age 98 of Centermoreland, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 12, 2023.

Midge was born at Harveys Lake on July 2, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Harvey and Clara Searfoss Kitchen.

She was educated in the Dallas Township Schools, College Misericordia and the Pennsylvania State University where she was a member of the Blue Band. Midge was a former Girl Scout Leader and Mother Advisor of the Order of Rainbow for Girls and received the Grand Cross of Color, the highest award given for service. Before retiring, she was a receptionist for Smith, Miller & Associates, Architects and Engineers. Midge also served as State President of the Pennsylvania State Council of Auxiliaries of the Pennsylvania Society of Engineers. She was also a member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church and a member of their choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Donald; daughter, Donna Holman Miller; grandson, Brian Holman.

Mildred is survived by grandson, David Holman and his wife Katrina of York; great-grandsons, Zachary and Jacob Holman, both of York.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Cathy Wilcox of the East Lemon/Lemon United Methodist Churches, officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Kocher Cemetery, Lake Twp.
