James E. Gensel, Sr. age 84 of Laceyville, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Gardens at East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Shickshinny on April 13, 1938 and was the son of the late Joseph W., Jr. and Alice Jane Reider Gensel. James worked at Proctor and Gamble for 27 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. James loved reading especially Stephen King, western and war novels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Michael Gensel; sister, Janet Gensel Sorber; brothers, Bill, Bob and Ed Gensel. James is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Janice Rosencrans; daughter, Renee Gensel; sons, Jeffrey, Kenneth and James, Jr. Gensel; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, especially his special niece, Derby. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Cree, with Pastor Rocky Bonomo of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service. Online condolences can be made at clswansonfuneralhome.com
