Obituary of Raymond H. Hillman, Sr.

Raymond H. Hillman, Sr., age 82 of Lake Silkworth, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Guardian Health Care, Nanticoke, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Nanticoke on October 8, 1939 and was the son of the late Gomer and Sophie Hillman. Raymond graduated from Nanticoke High School and was the owner of Hillman Service Co., Inc. for over 40 years. He served in the US Navy and then the US Coast Guard Auxillary. Raymond was a member of the Lake Silkworth Volunteer Fire and Ambulance for many years, was past Commander of the Harveys Lake American Legion, was past President/Chairman of the Luzerne County Fair and was also member of the Dallas Kiwanis and Irem Temple Shriners. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Richard and brother, Ronald. Raymond is survived by his wife, the former Susan Jenkins; sons, Tom Hillman and wife Ellen, Larry Hillman and wife Sara and Raymond Hillman, Jr.; daughter, Renee Raspen and husband Brett; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and his faithful dog, Dottie. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Ken Turley of the Welsh Presbyterian Church, Warrior Run, officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the funeral home. Private interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
