Obituary of Mildred Ida Grimes

Please share a memory of Mildred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MILDRED (HARRISON) GRIMES, age 94, went home to the Lord recently while at Geisinger South W-B, following a brief illness. Mrs. Grimes was born in Wilkes-Barre on December 21, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Stanley Harrison and Sarah Drum Harrison Ramsey. She attended Hazleton School and in her early years worked in the office of an area silk mill, she then spent the rest of her life as a homemaker/housewife, and caretaker for both her mother Sarah and her husband Joseph, for many years until their passing. Mildred's hobbies included crossword & jigsaw puzzles, knitting, an avid reader of novels, she also had a passion for Cocker Spaniels and collecting stuffed teddy bears (over 100 & naming each one) as well as spending many summer days in Conyngham, visiting relatives and friends. Her most recent challenge and highlight of her life was tracing her family tree, as she was very proud of the Drum family heritage, finding records dating back to as early as 1702. Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was her brother Leroy, grandson Jeffrey and most recently her son Paul. She is survived by Diane Grimes of Lake Silkworth, her daughter-in-law and caretaker with whom she resided; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, some of whom she never had the pleasure of knowing, and son Thomas, Tunkhannock. As per her request and final wishes, a private interment was held at St. John's Cemetery, Butler Twp. Monetary donations if desired, may be sent to Diane to assist her with final expenses. A heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Geisinger South W-B for making her as comfortable as possible in her final hours. Funeral arrangements were by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
