Patrick P. Scavone, age 88 of Nanticoke, formerly of Hunlock Creek, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at his home. He was born in Wilkes-Barre on December 17, 1933 and was the son of the late Phillip E and Mae Gately Scavone. Pat graduated from Lake-Lehman High School and attended the University of Hawaii while he served in the US Army, where he was a marksman and sharpshooter and earned many medals. He was very proud of his four brothers that also served in the US Army, that received medals including the Silver Star, Bronze Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was a truck driver and car carrier in Mahwah, New Jersey. Pat was the owner/operator of Pat Scavone Motors, until his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He enjoyed his property where he could hunt, fish, and golf, especially at Myrtle Beach, SC. Pat wintered in Deerfield Beach, FL in their condo where he enjoyed riding his bike and going to the beach. He enjoyed his family, especially his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, David; brothers, Phillip and Donnie; and sister, Catherine Masters. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Dugan; children, Michael P. Scavone of Nanticoke, Celeste Czaja and husband Rob of Scranton, Matthew Scavone and wife Wendy of Hunlock Creek, and Cynthia Murray and husband David of Thompson Station, TN; grandchildren, Matthew, Jr., Alexa, Amanda, and Mitchell; brothers, Rich, John, and Leonard Scavone; sisters, Rosemary and Linda; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at 9:30 from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621, with Rev. Brian Van Fossen officiating and Rev. Richard Fox as co-celebrant. Visitation will be held from Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
