Daniel George Chorba, Jr. age 63 of West Burlington Twp., formerly of Lake Twp., passed away at home on January 9, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kingston on May 19, 1958 and was the son of the late Daniel G., Sr. and Barbara Rogers Chorba. Daniel served as an alter boy and received the sacraments at Holy Trinity Church in Swoyersville and graduated from Seton Catholic High School in 1976. He obtained a Civil Engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State University, Wilkes Barre campus. Daniel worked in commercial construction for 30 years, first as a laborer for his great uncle, the late Wallace Mack, then for Joseph Mack, Sr. until Daniel co-founded the company Champion Builders, Inc. with his cousin Joseph Mack, Jr. In 2001, he and his family formed Northwoods Enterprises, an agricultural business raising angus beef. In 2005, he and his wife formed ADAS, LLC and purchased Sweet Valley Do It Best Lumber and Hardware. The family owned and operated businesses in the back mountain communities for the past 16 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Daniel was a life member of the NRA, the North American Hunting Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He sponsored and participated in many local clubs and organizations promoting wildlife habitat and conservation of wildlife and the forests of Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Retriever Werks of Northeast PA and will be sadly missed by his faithful hunting companions, Bullet and Bruin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David. Daniel is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sharon Harshbarger Chorba; sons, Andrew Chorba and wife Shelby Metcalf Chorba of Sweet Valley and Adam Chorba and partner Brittnie Carr of Burlington, PA; father-in-law, Leonard Harshbarger of Sweet Valley; paternal aunt, Anna Mae Venetz of Swoyersville; many cousins in the Wyoming Valley area. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Rocky Bonomo of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ, officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Franklin Twp.
