Sergeant JoAnne H. Dennis, age 39, retired Pennsylvania Army National Guard Soldier, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021 at her home in Courtdale after a courageous battle with Brain Cancer.
She was born on December 8, 1982 in Kingston and was the daughter of Jason, III and Helene Lord.
JoAnne graduated from West Side Area Vocational School Technical School in 2002 and continued her studies at Allied Medical and Technical School graduating with honors as an EKG/Lab Assistant. Her life fulfillment still felt incomplete so in June of 2008 she joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. JoAnne loved the balance of military and civilian life.
She was a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard's 228th Brigade Support Battalion, which has its Golf Company stationed at the 109th Field Artillery armory in Wilkes-Barre. When not active with the military, she was employed by Interstate Blood and Plasma in Wilkes-Barre. JoAnne's duty and obligation led her to a year in Kuwait in 2012 where she received many ribbons and medals which included the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
Besides the military JoAnne had a love for traveling, playing games on her phone, and cuddling with her cat, Ruby. She had a bright and energetic personality with the ability to sense when someone needed help. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life.
JoAnne is preceded in death by her brother, Jamie Saunders, grandparents, Helen Saunders and Albina and Jason Lord.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, John Dennis; son, Evan Lord; grandfather, Donald Saunders of Wyoming; mother/father-in-law, John and Rebecca Dennis of Courtdale; brother, Jason Lord and his wife Annie; sister, Jenny Robaczewski and her husband Joe; nieces, Alyssa Lord and Joelene Robaczewski, both of Plymouth; sister-in-law, Tina Dennis of Courtdale; along with numerous aunts, uncles and friends.
