Obituary of Eva Rachael Thomas

Eva Rachel Thomas, age 90 of Dallas, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 at The Gardens at East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Lake Twp. on July 19, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Gaylord and Mildred Hummel Martin. Eva graduated from Lake Township High School in 1949 and was employed by Natona Mills in Dallas for 29 years. She was a member of the Loyalville United Methodist Church for many years where she sang in their choir and was most recently a member of Northmoreland Baptist Church, Centermoreland. Eva was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Steltz; sons, Larry and David Steltz; brothers, Gaylord “Sonny” and Jay Martin; her beloved dog, Daisy. Eva is survived by her husband of 24 years, Robert H. Thomas; daughters, Joan Thomas and Carol Richards; siblings, Ida Scott, Sandra Traver, Alfred Martin and Robert Martin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10:00 am from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor James Howell, officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek.
