Obituary of Nelson W. Fey

Nelson "Buddy" Fey, age 82 of Dallas, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at home, with his loving family beside him. He was born in Wilkes-Barre on October 17, 1939 and was the son of the late William and Yvonne Helvig Fey. He was educated in the Wilkes-Barre school system and served in the United States Air Force for 4 years in active duty and another 2 in the Reserves. Nelson was the owner of Calex Express Trucking Company and Wilkes-Barre Truck, as well as the Garden Drive-In in Hunlock Creek. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 61 in Wyoming, the Coldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg, was a Shriner, and was active in the Irem Temple Transportation Unit for many years. He was also a member of the Eagles and Moose Clubs in Sarasota, FL. Bud was a wonderful husband and devoted father and grandfather; he rarely missed a football game or field hockey game. He was truly proud of his family. Bud also enjoyed motorcycling, cars, snowmobiling, and camping. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Diane Williams; daughters, Tammy Hoyt and husband Kris and Kim Barbacci and husband Douglas; grandsons, Ryan and wife Halli, Cory, and Logan Hoyt; granddaughter, Ella Barbacci; brother, William Fey and wife Beverly; sister-in-law, Marilyn Williams; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 7:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Carol Folk, Loyalville United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Dr, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702; or any organization of the donor's choice.
