Obituary of Samuel John Sherwood

Samuel Sherwood, age 59 of Dushore, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was born in Towanda on May 9, 1962 and was the son of the late Howard and Anna Sherwood. Samuel graduated from Sullivan County Technical School with an interest in auto body, which followed him throughout his life through car shows with his Corvette and Camero, detailing cars, NASCAR, and Jeff Gordon. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 609, where he held the title of Steward. Samuel loved to shoot pool. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Howard and Daniel Sherwood. Samuel is survived by his daughters, Alaisha Sherwood of Noxen and Serina Sherwood of Edwardsville; he was a father figure to his nephews, Daniel and Patrick Sherwood; loving fiancé, Sandy LaBar and her daughter, Kristy and his granddaughter, Ella; Siblings, Marge Bednar and her husband Paul of Dallas, Don Sherwood and his wife Dianne of Dushore, Jim Sherwood and his wife Lee of Dushore and Dot Hochburg and her husband Jerry of Jonestown; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 at 6:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 118 and 29, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Ben Hubbell of the Noxen Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Hanover Twp. American Legion, 328 Lee Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18706.
