Obituary of Coleen Cooper

Coleen M. Cooper, 85, of Bethlehem and formerly of Lake Silkworth passed away in her home at Kirkland Village on Saturday, October 30, 2021. She was the devoted wife of the late Gerald John Cooper. Born in Cerro Gordo, Iowa she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Ada Rasmus. Coleen was employed by Luzerene County Community College for most of her life until retiring. She was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church, Hunlock Creek and the Irem Temple Transportation Unit. Coleen was an active volunteer at the F. M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, Wilkes Barre. She enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening. Coleen’s wonderful sense of humor and dry wit are some of her most memorable characteristics. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Deborah Cooper and her husband Rob Dougherty of Danielsville; son Steven Cooper and his wife Sandy of Silverthorne,Colorado; brothers David Rasmus, Harold Rasmus and Jerry Rasmus; grandchildren Dylan and Colin Cooper and Anna and Lauren Charney as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Coleen was preceded in death by her loving son Dennis Cooper, daughter Linda Cooper and sister Janet Rasmus. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday November 20, 2021 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 5876 Main Road Hunlock Creek, PA 18621. The service will be live streamed. Coleen’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem and the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Pikes Creek.
