Obituary of Nancy Brittain Owens

Nancy Brittain Owens, age 67 of Sweet Valley, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Mrs. Owens was born in Wilkes-Barre on December 31, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lillian Culp Cole. Nancy graduated from Meyers High School in 1964. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Nancy enjoyed decorating her house during the holidays. She was known for her well decorated Christmas cookies of all varieties and loved to cook for her family. Nancy danced with the Wilkes-Barre Ballet Company for 14 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lynn Giannone and Deborah Evans. Nancy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gerald Owens; sons, Kenneth C. Owens of Fairmount Twp., Raymond C. Owens and his wife Shannon of Exeter, Jerry B. Owens of Sweet Valley, and Harry D. Owens of Sweet Valley; granddaughters, Lillian, Michaela, and Hannah; beloved black Lab, Libby. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Bo Kreller, officiating. Friends may call 9:30 am - 11:00 am prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Rd, Dallas, PA 18612.
