Obituary of John Edward Robbins

John Edward Robbins, Sr., age 91 of Allentown, formerly of Noxen, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Cedarbrook Rehabilitation Center, Bethlehem.
Mr. Robbins was born in Wyoming on December 25, 1924 and was the son of the late Le Roy and Elizabeth Baker Robbins.
John served in the US Navy on the USS New York during World War II. He was employed as a mechanic for the former General Cigar in Kingston until his retirement. John was active in the Noxen Community as a member of the Noxen Fire and Ambulance Association and the Noxen-Monroe Sportsman Assocation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. John could be found every morning at the former Mel's Diner enjoying coffee with his friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Viola Blizzard Robbins who passed away in 2014, brothers, Roy, Gideon, and Donald, and sister, Carolyn.
John is survived by son, John E. Robbins, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Dickson City; step-daughter, Thelma Moyer and her husband Gary of Allentown, with whom John resided; brother, Richard Robbins of Dorrance; sisters, Dorothy Monk of Hughestown, Lois James of St. Augustine, FL, and Betty Lou Murdock of Wyoming; grandchildren, John III, Deanna, Jennifer and Adam; great-grandchildren, Phoenix and Taylor; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4, 2016 at 3:00 pm from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Marty Everhart of the St. Luke's Reformation Lutheran Church, Noxen, officiating.
Friends may call 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Monday prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Noxen.
