Obituary of James Clinton Anthony

James Clinton Anthony, age 92 of Harveys Lake, formerly of Iselin, NJ, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Anthony was born in Washington Township on March 22, 1923 and was the son of the late George and Olive Wingrove Anthony. James served in the US Navy during World War II. He retired as a heavy machine operator for various excavating companies. James enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Anthony who passed away in 2015, brother, George Anthony, and sisters, Jane Mattenson and Betty Miele. James is survived by sons, James Anthony and his wife Betty of Edwardsville and George Anthony and his wife Terry of Harveys Lake; daughter, Gail Anthony, with whom he resided; grandchildren, Bob, Jim, Steven, David, Rachel, Melissa, and Robyn; great-granddaughters, Ema and Alma; special family friend, Liz Lynch. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Februrary 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. Friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
