Floyd Leon Goss, Sr., age 94 of Sweet Valley, passed Sunday, December 24, 2023 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. He was born in Forkston on August 16, 1929, and was the son of the late Arthur and Virgie Brandon Goss. Floyd graduated from Huntington Mills High School and served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was employed by Little Lumber Company in Benton for 35 years. Floyd was a member of Bethel Hill UMC and later Sweet Valley Church of Christ. He was an avid hunter and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Marie Knouse Goss; son, Lonnie Goss; grandson, Jordan Goss; numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by children, Floyd Goss Jr. (Wanda) of Sweet Valley, Jo Ann Yanchick (Richard) of Swoyersville, Ken Goss (Sheryl) of Sweet Valley and Diane German (Wayne) of Pittston; sister, Stella McKeel; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 12:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Raymond D. Purdy, Jr. of the Living Word Baptist Church, Fairmount Twp., officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Bethel Hill Cemetery, Fairmount Township. Online condolences can be made at clswansonfuneralhome.com
