Obituary of Lisa Petruska

Please share a memory of Lisa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lisa Marie Petruska, 51, of Cottonwood, AZ passed away May 15, 2023 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Lisa's mother, father, and brother, Michael were by her side. Her brother, Michael and his wife, Jenn and their children, Ava, Ryan, and Max, visited Lisa within her last two weeks. She was born in Nanticoke, daughter of Michael Petruska and Diane Gayeski Petruska. She grew up at Lake Silkworth and graduated from Lake-Lehman High School, Class of 1989. Lisa also attended Susquehanna University and Wilkes University. Lisa began her food service career over 20 years ago. During this time she made lasting friendships with fellow workers and patrons. She was loved by many. She had a great sense of adventure. Lisa loved hiking the beautiful red rocks of Sedona and exploring the trails around them. She was a huge animal lover, taking in and caring for strays and donated many hours to the Humane Society in both PA and AZ. Lisa's other passion was taking steps to improve the environment. She would never enter a grocery store without her natural bags. She recycled everything that she could. Lisa will be deeply missed by her loving family and wonderful friends who came to visit and support her during this difficult time. Lisa was such a devoted and loving daughter and aunt who never missed an opportunity to be with family. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Michael , his wife, Jenn, and their children, Ava, Ryan, and Max, all of Bethlehem; her cousins, Karen and Bruce Phair and their daughter Kyra, Mickey and Jane Kmietowicz and their sons Mickey and Jarad, Donna and Todd Collins and their daughter Jessica, Dina Teetsel, Shaun Sarmonis, Lisa Gentile, Linda Frankovich, and Mary Ann Harvey. Lisa was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank and Mae Gayeski, and Michael and Anna Petruska; aunts and uncles, Sandra and Richard Sarmonis, and Mary Ann and Robert Kosmach; and an infant cousin, Christopher Kosmach. Always thinking of others, Lisa donated her body to "Research For Life" with hopes she could help other people. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:30 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc, corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621, with Rev. Brian Van Fossen, officiating.
