I met Louise at the Meadows in 2013 when I went into the dining room with my mother for the first time. Noticing my anxiety she leaned over and said to me "Do you want to hear a joke?" Although she spoke slow and low she went on to tell me about a man who was in a sinking boat trying to swim for shore. When he could swim no more he asked God to help him and God said "Just keep swimming, I will save you!" So he swam and swam and a boat came along and the man in the boat said "Get in the boat!" but the man said "I have to keep swimming" so the boat drove off and the man kept swimming and then another boat came along and told the man to get in the boat but the man said "God told me to keep swimming. I will save you!" so the boat drove off and eventually the man drowned and found himself in Heaven standing in front of God. And the man said to God, "Why didn't you save me?" And God said "I sent two boats!" We laughed and became friends. She gave me the courage to go on. I always checked on her every day I was there and when she could speak no more we would communicate with hand signals. I would mouth to her are you OK? and she would put her index finger and thumb together and raise her hand to let me know she was OK. My mother died in 2015 and when I left the Meadows I started praying for Louise every day and always will. I never forgot her strength and sense of humor and I am a stronger person because I met her. I know she deeply loved her children and my condolences go to them. She was living proof that one person can change the world because she certainly changed mine! Thank you Louise!
