Janice L. Gensel, age 85 of Laceyville, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.

She was born in Sweet Valley on May 4, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Wayne, Sr. and Blanche Frederici Rosencrans.

Janice loved to crochet and watch murder mysteries and westerns. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by husband, James; son, Michael Gensel; brothers, Wayne, Jr., James and Bradley.

Janice is survived by daughter, Renee Gensel; sons, Jeffrey, Kenneth and James, Jr. Gensel; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Rocky Bonomo of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ, officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Interment will be in Bethel Hill Cemetery, Fairmount Township.
