Dorothy I. Major, age 86 of Lehman Twp., went to be with her Lord and members of her family that went on before her on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. She passed away peacefully at home with family that adored her.

She was born in Kingston on May 27, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Fred and Isabel (Traver) White.

Dorothy graduated from Lehman High School in 1956. She was employed by Commonwealth Telephone Company and spent many years as a homemaker catering to the family that she loved. Dorothy was a women known for her faith and was frequently found teaching Sunday school, vacation bible school and women's bible studies at her church and home. She currently attended Bible Holiness Church in Jackson Township. Anyone who ever visited her home knew that you could never leave without something to eat including snacks, more snacks and a cup of hot coffee. Dorothy loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always had a craft, activity or game planned whenever they were nearby.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Warren Major who passed in 2020; sons, Rev. Lawrence Major, Daniel Major and Ronald Major; brother, Everett White.

Dorothy is survived by daughter, Brenda Newhart and son-in-law, Michael of Harvey's Lake; daughters-in-law, Sharon Major and Karen (Major) Gingrich; grandchildren, Lauren, Josh, Micaela, Tanya, Tricia, Tina, Sherri, Larry, Jr., Laura, Zack, Alex, Ben, Matt, Nick and Paul; 29 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Brad Dendler of the Bible Holiness Church, officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Hunlock Creek.
