Kent Howard Jones Obituary

Kent Howard Jones Obituary

In deep sadness, we honor and celebrate the life of Kent Howard Jones, who peacefully departed this world on May 21, 2026, at the age of 76, surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished family. Born on February 9, 1950, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Kent was a beacon of kindness and strength in the lives of all who knew him.

Kent was the beloved son of Howard and Jeanne Jones, who predeceased him, leaving a legacy that Kent carried forward with grace and dedication. He is survived by his devoted wife and high school sweetheart, Georgeann Jones, with whom he shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was one of profound love and friendship, a partnership in every sense of the word. Together, they crafted a life filled with shared joys and laughter, save for one exception—Georgeann never quite took to the golf course, leaving Kent to enjoy that passion with his friends.

Kent was a Lake-Lehman graduate and an outstanding athlete and scholar. He was captain of the baseball, football, and wrestling teams and served as president of the honor society and student council, as well as senior class president.

A proud alumnus of Wilkes University, Kent carried the torch of education forward, channeling his knowledge and skills into the family business, Jones's Potato Pancakes. Founded by his parents in 1953, the business was Kent's pride and joy, and he managed it alongside his beloved brother, Terry, until retirement. Even then, Kent's legacy continued as he passed the torch to his nephew Chris, ensuring the family's culinary tradition would endure.

Kent was not only a dedicated businessman but also a man of unwavering loyalty. He was an avid sports enthusiast, passionately supporting Penn State, The Phillies, and the Eagles. His animated cheers and heartfelt exclamations during games will be fondly remembered by family and friends alike.

He was a member of the Irem Country Club and a Shriner, where he spent countless joyous hours on the golf course with his close-knit circle of friends. His camaraderie and sportsmanship were second to none, and his presence will be deeply missed in those cherished circles.

Kent's compassion, patience, and love were the cornerstones of his character.

A devoted family man, he was the backbone of his family's support system, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness knew no bounds, and his selflessness was a testament to the profound love he held for his family, including his wife, Georgeann; brother, Terry (Joann); sisters-in-law, Jacklyn Davis (Jack), Linda Scott (Wayne), and Ellen Mulqueen (Jay); and his beloved nieces and nephews, Wayne, Rocky, Jaime, Meghan, Scott, Riley, Kim, and Chris.

His legacy of love and care will never be forgotten.
