Sara Patton McGovern, age 83 of Noxen, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 surrounded by her loving daughters.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre on November 26, 1941 and was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Ruth Casterline Patton.

Sara graduated from Lake-Noxen High School in 1959. She was an active and dedicated member of the Noxen United Methodist Church. Sara was a loving and devoted wife of 65 years. She was an amazing and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed watching them grow. Sara took great pride in her family. Her devotion was truly inspiring.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William McGovern; children, Michael McGovern and Linda McGovern Zacharias; grandson, Brian Malkemes; brothers, Carlton, Donald and Lowell Patton.

Sara is survived by daughters, Pam McGovern Malkemes (Rich) and Kim McGovern Space (Don); 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Julia Kovalick, Louisa Clark and Marlene Belles; brothers, Osbert and Steven Patton; numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request, there will be no funeral services or calling hours.

Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
