Nancy Jane Krombel, age 91 of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Allied Services Meade St., Wilkes-Barre.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre on February 15, 1934, and was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Eckenrode.
Nancy graduated from GAR High School, and later received her associate's degree from Lackawanna Community College. She held numerous jobs through the years, but was happiest as a homemaker raising her 7 children. Nancy was a member of St. Mary's of the Maternity Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she sung in the choir and was a cantor. She was a selfless person who was always thinking of others ahead of herself.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by husband, Raymond A. Krombel; brothers, Gene, Donald, and Bob Eckenrode; daughter, Laura; and fiancé, Gordon Schaeffer.
She is survived by children, Cherylann Sheldon and husband Russell, Raymond Mark Krombel, Cynthia Krombel, Nancy Bush and husband Samuel, and Paul and Brian Krombel; brother, Jerry Eckenrode; grandchildren, Heather, Sam, Justin, Allison, Sarah, Jacob, and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Flora, Sophie, Chloe, and Elaina Rose; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 10:30 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM prior to the services at the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
