Obituary of Edna Claire Vivian

Edna Claire "Cookie" Vivian, 81, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at Meadows Nursing Home. Born on June 23, 1943, to Paul and Clara Sweet, Edna was a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who lived a life grounded in faith, service, and love for her family and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert C. Vivian; her brothers, Clifford and Paul Sweet; and her daughters, Kimberly Vivian and Malissa Eisel (Vivian). Edna is survived by her son, Charles Robert Vivian, his wife Georgette Vivian; Son in Law, Tim Eisel; and her grandchildren, Jeremy, Summer Eisel, and Lydia, along with several cherished nieces and nephews. Edna dedicated over 40 years of her life as a valued employee in the testing department at RCA Semiconductor in Mountain Top, PA. A lifelong member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, she practiced her faith with quiet strength and devotion. Following the tragic loss of her daughter Kimberly, Edna became a passionate advocate for others by founding a local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). She also gave generously of her time as a longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross. In her free time, Edna loved shopping and taking drives with her beloved pets — her favorite way to "get out of the house for a while." Her sense of humor, resilience, and compassionate spirit will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A private memorial service will be held by the family at a future date.
