Obituary of Edna Claire Vivian
Please share a memory of Edna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edna Claire "Cookie" Vivian, 81, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at Meadows Nursing Home.
Born on June 23, 1943, to Paul and Clara Sweet, Edna was a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who lived a life grounded in faith, service, and love for her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert C. Vivian; her brothers, Clifford and Paul Sweet; and her daughters, Kimberly Vivian and Malissa Eisel (Vivian).
Edna is survived by her son, Charles Robert Vivian, his wife Georgette Vivian; Son in Law, Tim Eisel; and her grandchildren, Jeremy, Summer Eisel, and Lydia, along with several cherished nieces and nephews.
Edna dedicated over 40 years of her life as a valued employee in the testing department at RCA Semiconductor in Mountain Top, PA. A lifelong member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, she practiced her faith with quiet strength and devotion.
Following the tragic loss of her daughter Kimberly, Edna became a passionate advocate for others by founding a local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). She also gave generously of her time as a longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross.
In her free time, Edna loved shopping and taking drives with her beloved pets — her favorite way to "get out of the house for a while." Her sense of humor, resilience, and compassionate spirit will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a future date.
Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 256 N. Sherman St. Wilkes-Barre PA 18702.
