
Obituary of Judith Whitmire
Judy Whitmire, age 75 of Sweet Valley, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Nanticoke on June 2, 1949 and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Louise Shaw.
Judy graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1968 and then graduated from Empire Beauty School in Wilkes-Barre. She was the owner and operator of Judy Whitmire's Beauty Salon and later worked at Mary Taylor's before it most recently became Beynon Beautiful, Dallas. Judy was a valued beautician at the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home for multiple years. She was a member of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ. Judy loved to go to fairs and carnivals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant brother, Keith Shaw; sister, Kay Altemus; brother, Wib Shaw.
Judy is survived by daughters, Heidi McDaniels (Stephen) of Mocanaqua and Amanda Whitmire of Sweet Valley; siblings, Dot Rosencrans, Tim Shaw, Gary Shaw and Jeanette Almoney; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 7:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Rocky Bonomo and Pastor Raymond Purdy, officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Future interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Twp.
