Obituary of Theresa Rose Roman

Theresa Rose Roman, age 89 of Sweet Valley, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

 

She was born in Hunlock Creek on September 4, 1935 and was the daughter of the late John and Mary Pavlick.

 

Theresa graduated from Harter High School, Nanticoke. She was the proprietor of Rickett’s Glen Hotel for several years with her late husband, John. Theresa also served as a tax collector for Fairmount Twp. for over 30 years. She was one of the original founders of the Fairmount Twp. Volunteer Fire Hall. She taught CCD at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for over 20 years as a First Holy Communion Teacher. Theresa was formerly active with St. Martha’s Church organizations and the Lake Silkworth Lions. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; siblings, Margaret Moyer, Mary Ann Smith, John Pavlick and Albert Pavlick.

 

Theresa is survived by son, David Roman (Anne) of Shickshinny; daughters, Maricarol Rakowski (David) of Sweet Valley and Theresa Stepanski (Edward) of Sweet Valley; sisters, Monica Davis, Elizabeth Sorber, Mildred Rusnak, Ann Rish, Christine Rombilus; grandchildren, Maurita, Brooke, David Michael (Lauren), Erin, and Sara; great-grandchildren, Raven, Lucian, Roman, Miriana, Ryker, Piper and Violet; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 10:30 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621, with Rev. Brian Van Fossen, officiating.

 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. 

 

Interment will be in St. Martha’s Cemetery, Stillwater.

 

Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 30 ED Preate Dr., Suite 108, Moosic, PA 18507.

 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kind and loving care given to their mother.
