Robert "Charlie" Sorber, 65 of Sweet Valley, died unexpectedly Friday, April 11, 2025. He worked for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542. Charlie was well known in the rock drilling industry as "The Drill Doctor" and as one of the best technicians in the business. He was well respected and loved by family and friends across the country. Charlie is preceded in death by parents, Robert and Barbara Ann Sorber; brother-in-laws, Joe "Zap" Zapotoski, Salvatore Ferraro, and Ron Klouser; and father-in-law, Walter Benoski. He is survived by wife, Linda; son, Bobby Sorber; daughter, Amy and her husband, Bobby Dale; brother, Greg Sorber and wife Sharon; sisters, Candy Zapotoski, Cindy Kanzenbach, and Betsy Ferraro; grandchildren, Mason and Emily Dale, and Ruby, Molly, and Brayden Sorber; brother-in-laws, Walter and Roger Benoski; mother-in-law, Ann Marie Benoski; and several nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family. As much as Charlie would love to see memorial donations sent to your local Snap-On truck, the family instead requests that a donation be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences can be made to clswansonfuneralhome.com
