Obituary of Cecil James Traver
Please share a memory of Cecil to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cecil James Traver, age 90 of Harvey's Lake passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 at home surrounded by family and his beloved canine companion, Kasey.
He was born in Noxen on September 29, 1934 and was the son of the late Richard Elsworth Traver and Delia Arline Crispell Traver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice, Richard and Kathy and his wife, Sandra. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on April 7, 2025.
Cecil was a member of Loyalville United Methodist Church and spent many years as the "money man" at church dinners. His smiling face was the first to greet diners at every church dinner and he often stayed to chat skillfully avoiding dish duty as long as possible. Cecil was a carpenter and skilled craftsman who only fully retired age 82, to care for his beloved wife, Sandra, when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. His skill and craftsmanship can be seen in many homes throughout Luzerne and Wyoming County, including the homes of his daughters, Tina and Gina and his son, Kelly. Cecil loved baseball, books and never passed up a good Western. He completed his crossword puzzles and cryptograms in pen and if questioned on the practice, would respond with; "You only need to use pencils if you make mistakes." He loved a good cup of black coffee and butterscotch krimpets. Of all the things he loved, he loved nothing more than his beloved wife, Sandra. They met as teenagers and were as crazy in love as much at end as they were in their beginning. Cecil loved to tell everyone he met about his children and how lucky he was to have them, even if his daughters drove him a little crazy.
He is survived by children, Tina Davis and husband James, Wesley Traver and wife Louise, Kelly Traver and wife Anne, Eric Traver, Zina Sult and husband Bernie, Ryan Traver and wife Geraldine, Jody Traver and husband Keith Acornley, Gina Morgan and husband John; Grandchildren, Angela Traver, Sharon Traver, Sara Bagley (Josh), Emma Bourgon (Anthony), Matthew Davis, Charlotte Elcyzyn (Robert), Lauren Bintz (Mark), Ashlie Traver, Alexa Traver, Courtney Sult, Aaron Traver, Samuel Traver, Owen Morgan, Abigail Traver, Shelby Traver, Kayla Traver, Elena Traver, Connor Morgan, LJ Morgan, and Eric Traver Jr; Great-Grandchildren, Alivia Elcyzyn, Sage Davis, Riley Elcyzyn, Georgia Metz, Andie Metz, Carter Bourgon, Kennedy Bourgon, Allison Bintz, Mason Pinos, Noah Bourgon and Willow Elcyzyn.; Brother, Robert Traver and sister Eunice Lattimer.
