Obituary of John Joseph Mras

John J. Mras, age 69, of Kingston, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born in Wilkes-Barre on March 21, 1956, and was the son of the late John P. and Kathleen O’Kane Mras.

 

John graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1974. He was self-employed as a contractor for many years, serving the Wyoming Valley, Seattle, and Los Angeles areas. John had a deep appreciation for nature—he loved spending time outdoors and found joy in observing birds and wildlife. He also had a lifelong passion for ice skating. John was a dedicated practitioner of Transcendental Meditation—“Jai Guru Dev”—which shaped his life in many ways. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and other family members, whom he loved dearly.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Mras.

 

John is survived by his siblings, Timothy (Debra) Mras, Douglas (Claire) Mras, Maureen Berryman, and Suzanne Mras; sister-in-law, Bonnie Mras; stepdaughter, Lucianna Morrison; grandchildren, Hailey, Damon, and Colten; and nieces and nephews, Matthew, Calli, Alec, Daniel, Erin, Emily, Neil, Lindsey, and Chelsea.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
