
Obituary of Marie Agnes Wasylkewicz
Marie Agnes Urban Wasylkewicz, age 102 of Luzerne, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 following a short stay at Allied Services Meade Street Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.
She was born in Swoyersville on April 28, 1922 and was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Trudgen Urban.
Marie graduated from Luzerne High School in 1940. She worked at Stapleton's Drug Store and several local textile factories. Marie was married for 31 years to her late loving husband, Michael Wasylkewicz, Jr. Her family was paramount in her life and expressed love for her husband, three children, thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren with her tender loving care. She enjoyed playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. Marie was always physically active and helped her son manage Rebennack's Blueberry Farm.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Shonk; a young granddaughter, Isabella Icatar; and son-in-law, Michael Kittrick.
She is survived by her three children: Anna Marie Kittrick, Mountain Top; Janet Yantachka and husband, Mike, Charlotte, VT; and Michael Wasylkewicz and wife, Joyce, Hunlock Creek; grandchildren, Michael, Kelly, Julianne (Roniel), Mark (Elizabeth), Jessica (Chad), Jennifer (Kelly), Jacqueline, Kathleen (Jack), Colleen (John), Maureen (Rob), Eileen, Noreen, and Darleen (Francis); great-grandchildren, Annalise, Nathaniel, Giancarlo, Xavier, Guthrie, Wynn, Reid, Evan, Quinn, Morgan, Eva, Jacob, Anthony, and Lily; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 10, 2025 at 9:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM from Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, PA 18709 with Monsignor David Tressler, officiating.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown.
