Stanley "Sonny" M. Mrackoski, of Sweet Valley, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2024.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre on March 24, 1950 and was the son of the late Stanley P. and Maryanne Mrackoski.
Stan was a 1968 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, and attended continuing education classes at Penn State and Luzerne County Community College. He served as a mid-shipman in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over 20 years as a mechanic at the Lion Brewery, Wilkes-Barre. He was also the owner/operator of S&M Food Machines, Plymouth Township. Stan was a member of Local #367 Union of Operating Engineers.
Also known for his strong work ethic, his ability to repair, build, replace, and refurbish just about anything amazed everyone. He was a man you could depend on to come to the rescue when you needed help. Stan and his wife, Cathy, made a great team and could often be seen working on projects together. His heart was as big as his stature and he will be missed dearly by friends and family. He was a former member of Saint Hedwigs/Saint Ignatius Churches, and is currently a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lake Silkworth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lorrianne Mrackoski.
Surviving are the loves of his life, his wife of almost 51 years, the former Cathy Zdancewicz; daughter, Kristina Joseph and her husband, Christopher; brother, Albert Mrackoski of Camp Hill; numerous cousins; and his loyal pet Bunky and furry grandkids, Snickers and Fuzzy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 10:30 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621, with Rev. Richard Gyansah-Pabiri, officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Township.
