Kathleen O'Kane Mras, age 86, of Hunlock Creek, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021 after a courageous battle with a brief illness at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wilkes-Barre on January 8, 1935 and was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Arsavage O'Kane. Kathleen graduated from Meyers High School, class of 1952. Upon graduation, she worked as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone in Wilkes-Barre. She raised 6 children in Kingston. Kathleen was the owner and chef also known as "Luigi" at Mras Café in Lynwood. In 1980, she became the municipal secretary for Kingston Borough until her retirement at the age of 72. Kathleen resided at Sylvan Lake with the love of her life, Ted Sisco and her bichon, Meggie. She loved to cook and hold family and holiday gatherings in her generational home. Kathleen enjoyed nature, taking walks with Ted and Meggie and spending time at her dream home at Sylvan Lake which she took great pride in decorating. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by son, Michael Mras, brother, James O'Kane and brother-in-law, Aloysius Lovecchio. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ted Sisco; sons, John of Dallas, Timothy and his wife Debra of Kingston, and Douglas and his partner Claire of Exton; daughters, Maureen Berryman of Swoyersville, Suzanne Mras of Kingston and Bonnie Mras of Sylvan Lake; grandchildren, Matthew, Calli, Lindsey, Chelsea, Alec Timothy, Daniel, Erin, Emily and Neil; great-grandchildren, Kenley Rose, Cash James, Hailey, Damon and Colton; sisters, Nancy Kemmerer and her husband Carl and Liz Lovecchio; numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621, with Rev. James Nash, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am prior to the Mass at the church. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring employees that gave such gentle and professional care to their mother, especially the entire 6th floor staff at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
