John Klemunes, age 78 of Hunlock Creek, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Kingston on November 26,1942 and was the son of the late John and Anna Gaydosh Klemunes. After High School, John served in the Army for 3 years and retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot after 30 plus years of employment. He loved the outdoors, either working around the yard or sitting in his chair on his patio. He was a country boy at heart. Although he was a man of few words, he was always listening and providing insight at the proper moment, no matter what the topic was, from finance to how to grow the best tomatoes. He was project manager for household and vehicle projects, extremely handy with a knack to fix anything, and the pack mule on family vacations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Stephen. John is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Vikara; sons, John and Paul Klemunes; grandchildren, John Patrick, Jack and Max; and siblings, Ray, Julie Ann, Theresa, Marie, Anna, Joe, Cathy, and Tony. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 18, 2021, at 11:00 am from the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621 with Rev. James Nash, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Twp. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621.
