Verna L. Hubbell Fisher Day, age 90 of Dallas, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Meadows Nursing Center, where she made many new friends. She was born in Noxen on November 23, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Nelson Issac and Blanche Viola Hubbell. Verna was a kind and generous woman that was always willing to help others and had a smile that would brighten up a room. She was involved with her church and was a member of Webspinners square dance group, Patriotic Brotherhood and was involved in many activities at the Meadows. Verna worked for many years as a sewer for the Heavenly Shoe Factory and Flair Footwear in Wilkes-Barre. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, James A. Fisher, 2nd husband, Royce Traver Day, daughter, Susan Rodgers Mook, brothers, Dorrance, Wayne, Warren, Cecil, Clarence and Virgil. Verna is survived by daughters, Anita Hodick and her husband James of Tunkhannock and Blanche Grady and her husband Jerry of Sweet Valley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Noxen Bible Baptist Church Route 29, Noxen, with Pastor Benjamin Hubbell officiating Interment will be in the Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Noxen, immediately following the service
