Obituary of Jean Brink

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jean Brink, age 87 of Nanticoke, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Guardian Elder Care Center, Nanticoke. Mrs. Brink was born in Idetown on September 13, 1929 and was the daughter of the late David and Hope Cook Ide. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Among the many things she taught us, the most important was the true honor of love. She wasn't afraid to use the words "I love you" yet when she used them, they always had weight and sincerity. Our family is so grateful to have collected a treasure chest of memories together. We will hold those precious gifts close to our hearts for eternity. Although time may have aged her body, it never faded her consciousness. Jean was a woman of perseverance with a work ethic that was inspiring. She was a food caterer for Weavers in Tunkhannock for several years but dedicated most of her life taking care of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, with whom she had been married for 62 wonderful years, sister, Ethel Mims and brothers, Harold and Bruce. Jean is survived by daughter, Connie Marshall and her husband Mark; sons, Howard and Jim; brothers, Glen and Richard; special grandson, Mark and his wife Abby, whom she loved so much; sister-in-law, Pat Fraley, with whom Jean had a loving bond like sisters; nieces, Lori Evans and Tami Williams, whom Jean loved like her own children; dear friend, Joyce Lamoreaux, whom Jean had a special place in her heart for; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be announced and held in early spring. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Guardian Elder Care for taking such great care of Jean. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Judes Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
