Obituary of Robert Emmett McDonald

Robert Emmett McDonald, age 68 of Noxen, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at home, surrounded by family and close friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. McDonald was born in Towanda on July 5, 1948 and was the son of the late Gerald W. and Agatha Hembury McDonald. Upon graduating from Sullivan County High School, Robert entered the US Air Force in 1967, serving 3 tours of duty in Vietnam as a Staff Sergeant. He was employed by Proctor and Gamble Paper Products in Mehoopany for many years. Robert lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Basil's RC Church in Dushore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Kevin McDonald. Robert is survived by daughter, Vanessa Teetsel and her husband Tim of Noxen; son, Kyle McDonald of Cape May, NJ; brother, Gerald McDonald and his wife Paula of Coppas Cove, TX; sister, Maureen McDonald Flynn of Cleveland, TN and Sharon Aldridge Worthington of Dushore; grandsons, Tyler McDonald of Iowa and Ayden J. Teetsel of Noxen; granddaughter, Morgan Coburn of Harveys Lake; Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A prayer service will be held Friday, September 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Richard Fox of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 am – 2:00 PM prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in the Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Noxen.
