James Sheldon, age 89 of Bear Creek Twp., passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Sheldon was born in Plymouth on January 30, 1927 and was the son of the late James and Anna Patson Sheldon. James attended Plymouth High School and served as a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II. He worked for several flooring companies in the Wyoming Valley as a floor covering specialist and supervisor. James enjoyed hunting and working on cars. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed family celebrations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Sheldon. James is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Irene Zalewski; son, Russell Sheldon and his wife Cherylann of Hamilton, OH; daughter, Diane Patricia Racemus and her husband Dave, Sr. of Sweet Valley; grandsons, Justin Sheldon and his wife Sara of Cincinnati, OH, David Racemus, Jr. and his fiancé Leah of Kingston and Kevin Racemus of Harveys Lake; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 9:30 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am from the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621 with Rev. Richard Fox officiating. Friends may call 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Private interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
