Obituary of Gary John Sagan

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gary "Pop Pop" Sagan, Sr., age 59 of Loyalville, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Sagan was born in Nanticoke on April 21, 1956 and was the son of the late John and Sylvia Zionkowski Sagan. Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman who knew how to live life to the fullest. He loved his family and was always the "go-to-guy" for anything. He lived for his son and daughter always making sure to do anything possible for their happiness. In May, Gary would have celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary with his wife, Cynthia. He was also wonderful to his daughter-in-law, Justine and son-in-law, Brian, as he treated them as his own. Ultimately, his heart belonged to his granddaughter, Sophia. Sophia had her "Pop Pop" wrapped around her finger as they both loved spending time together on tractor rides, feeding the fish, and planting his garden. His dog Kayla Bear was always by his side as well. Gary is survived by his wife of 34 years, the former Cynthia Swicklik; son, Gary Sagan, Jr. and his wife Justine; daughter, Amanda Moran and her husband Brian; granddaughter, Sophia Moran; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Dave Kapson; nephews, DJ and Dustin Kapson. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 at 9:30 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am from the Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, 2011 State Route 29, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621, with Rev.
