Obituary of Dorothy Konnick

Dorothy R. Konnick, age 85 formerly of Sweet Valley and Penfield, NY, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Hampton House Nursing Home, Hanover Township. Mrs. Konnick was born on August 1, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Culp Rinehimer. Prior to retiring she was employed as a tax preparer for H & R Block in Penfield. Dorothy served as a volunteer for various nursing homes, hospices and the Scranton School for the Deaf. Her husband, Peter N. Konnick died in 2007. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Betty Harvey, Elsie Keller, Edna Laycock and Helen Stroud. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek with Pastor Raymond D Purdy, Jr. of the Living Word Baptist Church, Fairmount Township, officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek. Friends may call 10:00 AM-11:00 AM prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Heartland Home Care & Hospice, 38 N. Main St., Pittston, PA 18640. Condolences may be made at clswansonfuneralhome.com
